According to Luxembourg outlet Le Quotodien (via ClubCall,) Southampton are looking at Waasland-Beveren right back Laurent Jans, with our resident Saints fans here in the Transfer Tavern trusting Claude Puel’s judgment on a player they haven’t really heard of.
It appears, though, according to the report, that the Saints are not the only side interested in Jans and they could find themselves having to fight off competition for his signature from Championship clubs Aston Villa and Huddersfield Town.
Jans is an international footballer for the small nation of Luxembourg and has impressed a number of clubs in Europe, not just in this country, with his displays so far this season for his Belgian side.
It’s believed Waasland-Beveren want £1 million for the sale of the player whilst the report also suggests that Puel has already made a bid for the defender, so it remains to be seen whether it was good enough.
Jans would compete with Cedric Soares and Cuco Martina for the starting right-back spot at Southampton.
