Rangers: Michael Beale ‘front-runner’ for manager job

Carrow Road, Norwich, Britain - November 2, 2022. Queens Park Rangers manager Michael Beale after the match.

Glasgow Rangers insider The 4th Official has revealed that Michael Beale is the ‘front-runner’ for the vacant managerial position.

The Lowdown: Van Bronckhorst departs

The Ibrox outfit confirmed on Monday morning that they had parted ways with Giovanni van Bronckhorst, following a poor run of results that has seen the Dutchman win just two of his last seven games in total over all competitions.

Several names have already been put forward to replace him, including Steven Gerrard’s former assistant Beale, Kjetil Knutsen and Sean Dyche.

The Latest: Beale ‘front-runner’

Taking to Twitter, The 4th Official has since revealed that Beale is the ‘front-runner’ for the manager’s job, having spoken to ‘a couple of sources close to the Rangers board’:

“Having spoken with a couple of sources close to the Rangers board, there is no doubt that Michael Beale is the frontrunner for the Rangers managerial position.”

The Verdict: Get it done

The break for the FIFA World Cup is the perfect time for the Gers to get a new manager in, as they can work with the players not at the tournament, and on their preferred tactics ahead of the league season resuming.

Lauded as ‘special‘ on the training pitch by Van Bronckhorst’s predecessor Gerrard, Beale knows the club inside and out having worked as his assistant, and was a key figure in the Light Blues winning the Scottish Premiership title in the 2020/21 campaign, stopping bitter rivals Celtic from winning 10 in a row.

Coming in midway through the season, the now QPR boss would be a safe pair of hands to try and get the Teddy Bears back on track, as they trail their noisy neighbours by a hefty nine points in the title race this time around.
