Rangers fans were far from convinced that Steven Gerrard had made the right call yesterday when they saw their starting lineup for their away trip to Hamilton Accies. The Gers had to get by without the suspended Alfredo Morelos amd when Gerrard threw in Defoe as a lone striker the fans were fearing the worst.

Despite the Gers concerns before kick-off there truly was nothing to worry about. Defoe contributed with a well-taken goal in what turned out to be a rout at the SuperSeal Stadium. The visitors took an incredible 4-0 lead in the first half as Ryan Jack, Defoe, Scott Arfield and James Tavernier all found the net before Kyle Lafferty added a late goal in the second half to round off the scoring.
It was a game where you’d never believe that the fans had concerns before kick-off, yet the Gers still had their doubts. The main worry from the Bluenoses was over Defoe, who they didn’t believe was able to cut it at the age of 36 playing up front on his own in Scotland. However, the striker made it four league goals in his opening six games with his strike and will now be eyeing up Dundee in midweek as he looks to add even more goals to his game.
