Rangers sent Motherwell home sucking their thumbs after a 7-1 drubbing at the Ibrox over the weekend.
Clearly, Gerrard’s men had something to prove after they threw away their lead against Spartak Moscow on Thursday, and they’ve certainly bounced back in the most fantastic of ways.
It was never going to be an easy task for Motherwell who have gone 42 games without beating Rangers in the league – a record dating back to Boxing Day 2002. And Carl McHugh did his side no favours when he received a second yellow in the 34th minute leading to a penalty which club captain James Tavernier duly dispatched. 2-1 to the Gers.
From here on Rangers embarrassed Motherwell making them look more like a pub side who’d had a heavy night out than a professional team.
Goal after goal went in; Arfield, Morelos, Middleton and Grezda all taking advantage of their opponent’s helpless defence.
It’s hard to pick out one player who stood out amongst the rest, however Grezda gets the nod from us today for his outstanding performance contributing two goals and an assist.
The Albanian’s career looked like it was never going to take off until recently which makes his comeback today all the sweeter.
