Rangers: Alfredo Morelos tipped to leave
Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that Steven Gerrard will get rid of Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos as he continues to show a bad attitude.
Morelos causing problems
Morelos was once again in the headlines for the wrong reasons following the Gers’ 4-0 win over Aberdeen in a match where punters who backed the league leaders at this website were left feeling happy. The Colombia international went into a huff when he was hauled off, throwing his gloves onto the floor and looking miserable in the stands.
Even Gerrard was perplexed by the actions of his star forward, and Agbonlahor believes it may be only a matter of time before the 24-year-old departs Ibrox. He told Football Insider:
“What he did at the weekend was inexcusable. You’ve got to respect your manager.
“The problem with Morelos is that he thinks he’s bigger than the club and he thinks he should be starting and playing 90 minutes for Rangers but it doesn’t work like that and it’s not going to work like that with a manger like Steven Gerrard.
“If he feels that Jermain Defoe or Kemar Roofe deserves to play then he will play them. He won’t pick Morelos just because he’s one of the best players and his value is high to the club.
“Steven Gerrard won’t care about that, he’ll play who he thinks are the best players.
“If he doesn’t like that from Morelos then maybe, in the long run, Steven Gerrard will get rid of him because you don’t need those sort of bad eggs around your camp.”
Too much hassle
In terms of pure talent, Gerrard arguably doesn’t have a better player than Morelos. His record in front of goal is outstanding, with him managing 84 goals in 155 matches since moving to Scotland, and his performances have attracted the interest of the likes of Lille, AC Milan and Marseille.
Will Morelos leave Ibrox before next season?
Yes

No

However, he is fast becoming more trouble than he is worth. He already has seven red cards to his name north of the border, and he was lucky not to receive another after slapping the back of Scott Brown’s head against Celtic earlier this season. Gerrard even took him out of the starting line-up for three successive matches.
At the moment, he is still worth a fair amount – Transfermarkt says his current value stands at £13.5m. The Gers must make sure that he does not become a hindrance in this crucial campaign.
In other news, this Rangers target is set to be offered a new deal.
