Neil McCann has said that Glasgow Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara could play for Arsenal in the Premier League.
Kamara could play for Gunners
Kamara used to be on Arsenal’s books, but he made just one appearance for the senior side before moving to Dundee in Scotland (Transfermarkt).
Talking to Rangers TV (via Rangers News), McCann, who used to coach Kamara, believes the midfielder would be able to play for Mikel Arteta’s side right now. He explained:
“It’s ironic he left Arsenal because he was deemed not good enough. I believe he could play for Arsenal now, standing on his head – he’s that good,”
“That boy has the ability to play at a very high level. He’s shown it for Finland and Rangers but I hope he doesn’t go anywhere because I want to see him be a success and he is standing on the edge of winning a title.
“It only took me five minutes with Glen. There wasn’t much to see in an Arsenal jersey, but he’s got the pedigree and I was looking for a footballer who could be brave, take it off the centre-back and build from the back under pressure.
“After five minutes, I knew he was a player and we’d found one.”
Gers will want to keep him
Kamara has been a rock for Steven Gerrard’s team throughout this campaign. So far, he has played in all but four games in all competitions and has scored twice along the way. This promises to be a big year for the £4.05m-valued 25-year-old (Transfermarkt) – as the Gers lead the Premiership table by 23 points with 13 games to play (BBC), he could get his hands on a first piece of silverware, while he has the European Championships to look forward to with Finland.
Could Kamara play for Arsenal?
Gerrard will want to keep him at Ibrox, of that there is no doubt. However, he will know that Kamara will likely leave for pastures new at some point. A move to the Premier League could work well for all involved – Kamara would be moving up to a higher level and would likely receive a bigger wage, while the Gers could demand a big transfer fee. Before that, though, there is success to be claimed at Ibrox.
In other news, Rangers fans hammered this man against Ross County.
