Rangers must make signing Reece Oxford their biggest priority in January

Rangers are closing on in bitter rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership which really signifies their improvements this season.

In what has been a magnificent first few months in the job for Steven Gerrard, the Liverpool legend has proven to be just as good a manager as he was a player.

He hasn’t been scared to make tough decisions or say what needs to be said and Rangers have improved because of that.

The Gers have been brilliant but yet there is belief they can be even better if they make the right moves in the transfer window.

A player that would improve them in more than one position is West Ham’s Reece Oxford, a youngster they must look to bring to Ibrox.

Oxford, who is valued at £4.5 million on Transfermarkt, has admitted himself that a move away from West Ham is getting more likely with every game that passes.

Having not been included in the first-team set-up all season, Oxford will be looking to move to a club where he can have a real impact, with Rangers surely being one of the best options for him.

Having shot to fame at the age of just 16 after a man of the match performances against Arsenal, it’s only been downhill for Reece Oxford’s career since.

Despite a positive loan move to Borussia Monchengladbach at the tail end of last season, Oxford has failed to live up to the great expectation placed on him since his debut.

A move away to play under Steven Gerrard could be exactly what Reece Oxford needs to improve as a person and a player, giving him the ability to be the player many thought he would be.
