While things are looking up of late, there’s not been much to shout about for the Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern during a season that started with oh so much optimism.
Mark Warburton’s side are trailing the top two in the SPFL and many of their summer signings are struggling to wholly convince at Ibrox.
Having largely relied on experience when it came to buying players prior to the campaign, the Gers propping up the have been begging top brass to bring some more exciting talents to Glasgow in January and beyond.
To be fair, the arrivals of Jordan Rossiter and Joe Dodoo from Liverpool and Leicester City respectively proved hugely exciting over the summer months and the club have been linked with another move in a similar vein.
Aston Villa forward Rushian Hepburn-Murphy has previously been touted as a potential target for the SPFL side and the talented teen is out of contract in the Midlands at the end of the season.
Back in March 2015, the then 16-year-old became Villa’s youngster ever Premier League player and is understood to have attracted the interest of the Ibrox outfit.
According to the Daily Record, they and Watford watched the striker in action for the club’s U23 side against Norwich City as the club consider taking advantage of the cross-border ruling when luring players from England.
Should young talent move to Scotland, rather than a rival English side, the compensation fee is much lower.
Still, the report includes quotes from Villa boss Steve Bruce, who is clearly determined to keep him in England.
“We will do everything we can to keep him at Villa”, he said.
”I’ve met his parents for a conversation to tell them how much we rate him. We will do everything to tie him up.
“He has been in the academy since he was eight. So I hope he can fulfil all his potential and fulfil everything he wants to be because he is a very good player.”
