Things are going from bad to worse for the Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern at the moment and the situation does not appear to be getting any rosier for the side any time soon.
The Villans have been struggling financially ever since their Play-Off final defeat to Fulham last month and there has been talk that Dr Tony Xia is prepared to sell the Midlands outfit to any potential investor.
The club looks set to lose a number of their key players and a report in the Daily Mirror has stated that Steve Bruce will need to raise £50million from those sales to make sure Aston Villa stay afloat.
It is thought that the possible departures of Jack Grealish, James Chester and Jonathan Kodjia could help raise some of those funds, however, the club are also facing the prospect of Financial Fair Play regulations and an HMRC tax bill.
Landlord’s Verdict
The Villa fans in the Tavern will be devastated that their club is back in disarray following the years that Randy Lerner had owned the side and will be hoping things can be sorted out.
Things do look very bleak at Villa Park at the moment, however, Bruce is determined to remain and do what he can to help ease the financial constraints and losing John Terry and Robert Snodgrass already has helped.
He is not expected to let Grealish go on the cheap, so they are hopeful what they receive for him will clear the majority of the debt but things do not look promising for the residents in the bar.
