It’s fair to say that Unai Emery has a big task on his hands this summer to prove that he’s up to the task of replacing Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. The Gunners’ legendary Frenchman departed earlier this year, and whilst Emery has a wealth of experience, he has huge expectations on his shoulders.
He needs to come in and make a splash quickly as he looks to make his mark on the team, and we recently made the suggestion that Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi would be the perfect player to sign as the Gunners look to enter into a new era.
Arsenal are yet to be linked with him directly, but it’s fair to say that Arsenal fans were delighted with the suggestion.
We polled fans on whether the deal would be a good one, and a whopping 83% of fans voted stating that it would – and that’s a testament to what Ndidi could bring to this team.
The Nigerian – who is rated at £22.5 million by Transfer Markt – has effectively replaced N’Golo Kante at Leicester City over the last year or two, and though the Chelsea man left a huge gap in the squad, Ndidi has really grown into it.
He’s brilliant at breaking up play and moving it forward, and whilst the Foxes are often on the backfoot, his presence in the midfield makes it far easier for his teammates to defend.
It’s surely only a matter of time before he gets his big move, and with Arsenal lacking a midfield destroyer-like presence at the moment, it would be wise for Emery to move quickly. At least, the Arsenal faithful think so.
