Brendan Rodgers may have just hinted that he might be prepared to let one of Celtic’s emerging talents leave the club.
Ewan Henderson is highly-rated at Celtic Park and has been impressing with his performances for the Academy side in recent months.
The midfielder has made such an impression, that he was handed his first-team debut in midweek against St. Mirren when he came off the substitutes bench for the last 20 minutes of the game.
Rodgers admitted that he had been ‘so impressed’ with what Henderson had been achieving as a player but also eluded to the idea that he may have to go out on loan to develop his game further.
Speaking to The Herald, he said: “If you look at Ewan Henderson coming into the game the other night, I have been so impressed with him as a player. He is working on his intensity in the game in terms of his pressing.
“This is something you have always got to get into young players. They have to understand it is not just about looking good, you have to be aggressive. He is a huge talent but it is maturation and sometimes that may mean going out of here. But the talent is there absolutely.”
Henderson appears to be one of the brightest prospects to be emerging from the club’s academy.
If a loan becomes a possible option for the midfielder, then it should be one that the player and club consider strongly as he is unlikely to get a real chance within the first-team this season to make a real impression.
Still only 18-years-old, Henderson certainly appears to have a bright future ahead of him following the comments made by Rodgers and has plenty of time to make into the Hoops’ senior side on a regular basis.
