Celtic’s ‘French Eddy’ has been struggling as of late. The 20-year-old Frenchman was sublime during his first full season at the club last year, but after making his loan move from PSG to Parkhead permanent, the £9 million man has failed to deliver when it matters, and yesterday was one of those days.

After spending all of Thursday night against RB Salzburg chasing his first touch and doing his best to emulate Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku, Odsonne Edouard would have been desperate to put things right with a match-winning display at Easter Road. That simply wasn’t the case, though, as he again made sure that his second touch would be a tackle in a game where he never got going at all.
It’s understandable that the Hoops are getting more and more frustrated with the Frenchman. When Brendan Rodgers forked out for the Frenchman he smashed the club’s record transfer fee, which was previously set all the way back in July 2000. The man to break it then was Chris Sutton, before John Hartson joined for the same amount one year later, and Edouard would do well to emulate either of those two as he strives to become a Parkhead great.
You can read the Bhoys’ responses to Edouard being hooked yesterday below:
He has a worse touch than Lukaku fs

Rodgers wants two strikers in January. If he gets them, we’ll still only have two strikers.

Celtic fans will be expecting a whole lot more from their record signing, and his current total of 13 goals in 28 appearances this season will have to be improved upon to win the fans back.
