Celtic fans were all over the moon when Brendan Rodgers went out of his way to sign a right-back in the January transfer window. Not just any right-sided defender came to Parkhead either, as they signed Borussia Dortmund’s young German defender, Jeremy Toljan on-loan until the end of the season.
JT: “I’m very happy to be here. I’m fit and ready to play!”

The young German has got pace to burn and is used to getting up the field to aid his side in attack as well as in defence, and that will be something that the Hoops will be eager to see. It also looks like the 24-year-old is keen to jump straight into the action, as he’s claimed to be ‘fit and ready to play’ ahead of the Hoops clash against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park today.
If the German is thrown in then he’ll be expected to play well and get a good start, so the pressure will be on him from the off. He’s joined a club where there is always high stakes and with Rangers sitting closely behind them in the table, losing against St Johnstone is simply not an option. With that being said, the Hoops have enjoyed facing St Johnstone this season, with 6-0 and 2-0 wins already recorded against them this season.
