Celtic fans take to Twitter to fume at Izaguirre

Celtic fans were left dealing with the same old same old in Europe last night. Whilst the Hoops domestic form is nothing short of spectacular, in Europe they fail to deliver and last night was no different. The goals they conceded were both of their own makings in a 2-0 loss, and the fans were fuming at Emiliano Izaguirre for his part in the first goal.

Brendan Rodgers’ side had fared well in the game up until it came towards the end of the first half. After 40 minutes of good work staying in the tie, Denis Cheryshev popped up to capitalise on a mistake from Izaguirre to slot home and give the travelling Spaniards the lead. That lead then became two shortly after the break and it looks like, yet again, Celtic will be bowing out of Europe early.

The fans cannot believe that it’s just going to be another year of being let down when it comes to the big stage, even if they do look set to go on and win another domestic treble. The next step for a side like the Hoops is to start competing outside of Scotland, and without Kieran Tierney, they don’t seem to be able to do that, as the strength in depth at Rodgers’ disposal just isn’t there.

You can read the Bhoys’ thoughts on Izaguirre here:

The Hoops hated having to go into the game yesterday without Tierney and when Izaguirre plays there’s always the danger that he might have a moment.
