Celtic are well aware of the need to improve, should they wish to be successful once again this season.
Things have been too inconsistent at Celtic Park this season and for a manager who has won seven trophies in a row with the Scottish team, Brendan Rodgers will be expecting more… and fast.
This could be Celtic’s hardest challenge to date of winning the Scottish Premiership with Rangers hot on their tail, but with the right transfers, Celtic could push themselves out of sight.
A signing that would be a risk in some way is free agent Victor Anichebe, given that he hasn’t played properly really at all this year.
Anichebe, (who is valued at £900k on Transfermarkt) has been without a club since January after a tense battle with Chinese club BJ Enterprises.
The man capped by Nigeria 11 times left Sunderland to pursue a footballing career out in China, all for it to go horribly wrong.
Yet Anichebe is still only 30-years-old and could be a good option for Celtic to utilise with the games coming thick and fast in the new year.
Odsonne Edouard is a great striker that will get better year on year but with Leigh Griffiths out of action for the foreseeable future, another forward would be a sensible decision for the Hoops to make.
Anichebe is an incredibly strong striker that poses a completely different option for Celtic, and one which if they can get fit, could be a nuisance for any opposition to handle.
He needs to put his last move behind him and Celtic could be the perfect destination for him.
