Having signed a new four-year contract only a few months ago, Olivier Ntcham’s future at Celtic looked secured or at least until the end of the season.
However, the Frenchman could be on the move this month with Porto said to be interested in bringing him to the Estadio do Dragao and are willing to offer a sweetener in any potential deal.
According to the Scottish Sun, Porto, who were keen on signing Ntcham last summer, will include Chancel Mbemba in their £14m proposal for the Celtic midfielder in what would be a very interesting development if it took place.
Taking Mbemba in exchange for Ntcham, who recently signed a new contract at Celtic Park, may come across to some as desperate and a move to save face by showing supporters the club are getting something out of the inevitable loss of one of their key players.
However, looking at the bigger picture, getting Mbemba in return for Ntcham should he decide he wants a new challenge could go a long way for the Bhoys.
With Filip Benkovic set to return to Leicester City once his loan spell in Glasgow ends, Celtic will need a new central defender with Mbemba being more than a suitable replacement.
The 24-year-old has had his struggles at Porto, but impressed at Belgian side Anderlecht before a mixed spell at Newcastle United.
