Celtic fans will have been delighted yesterday when they checked their starting lineup to see that Kieran Tierney was back in action. They were all so excited that they’d have missed the act that Brendan Rodgers also threw in the 18-year-old midfielder Ewan Henderson, although when the game got underway he was impossible to ignore.

As first-team debuts go, Henderson’s was right up there. The 18-year-old wasn’t able to christen his first appearance as a Hoop with a goal, although he did set up his side’s opening goal in their 4-1 win when he teed up Scott Sinclair just past the half an hour mark at Parkhead. His classy performance, capped off with an assist, will certainly have done his chances for the future no harm at all.
The next step for the 18-year-old Hoop is to show that he can perform to that standard in a game even when the pressure is on. Yesterday saw him floating behind the likes of James Forrest, Ryan Christie, Scott Sinclair and Odsonne Edouard from the start, so he had to plenty to aim for creatively on an afternoon where Motherwell’s soft touch at the back was clear to see.

The Bhoys absolutely love seeing one of their own thrive at Parkhead and that’s exactly what Henderson did yesterday with a cracking performance.
