Celtic have been extremely impressive in the Scottish Premiership in recent times as they continue to work towards securing the title once again under Brendan Rodgers.
The Hoops will have their sights on Scottish Cup success as well after getting the better of St. Johnstone earlier on today in the fifth round. But, it looks as if the Hoops aren’t too confident a potential summer move for Oliver Burke, as according to The Sunday Post, Rodgers reckons a permanent move for Burke is unlikely to come true.
Oliver Burke has been simply sensational since moving to Celtic last month, with a number of goals and assists to his name already, which has supporters wishing for a permanent move.
But, it appears as if a potential summer switch is unlikely, as Rodgers had this to say:
“I think so,” Rodgers said, when asked if Burke’s stay becoming a permanent one could be classed as a “pie in the sky” prospect.
“It would be great for Celtic, but the reality is that the improvements he will make here over the course of the next six months will probably excite West Brom.
“Then if they get promoted his wages probably change anyway.
“They help us for now, and we help them.
“It may well be too much (to keep him) but all you can do is improve and develop him and see what happens.”
Oliver Burke, who is valued at £9 million (by Transfermarkt), has been one of the standout performers at Celtic since moving to Scotland last month, so it comes as no surprise that Celtic want to sign him permanently.
Supporters will be gutted that Rodgers has stated that a permanent move for Burke is unlikely as he’s already had such a big impact in their Scottish Premiership title bid.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
