‘Season ticket binned’ – Crystal Palace fans react to dramatic day

Crystal Palace supporters have been stunned into silence in the Transfer Tavern following news of Frank de Boer’s sacking on Monday morning.

The former Inter Milan boss only took over at Selhurst Park in the summer, yet failed to pick up any points from his first four Premier League games in charge of the Eagles, the last of which a 1-0 defeat at Burnley on Sunday.

Add in that his side had failed to score in any of those matches, and it made pretty grim reading for the 47-year-old, who has now officially been relieved of his duties by chairman Steve Parish after just 77 days in the job.

Palace sit second-bottom in the Premier League table and will find themselves at the basement if West Ham avoid defeat against Huddersfield Town this evening, and reports suggest that former England manager Roy Hodgson will be the man to take over the reins at Selhurst Park.

The 70-year-old has been out of work since resigning as the national team’s boss after losing 2-1 to Iceland in Euro 2016, which brought the curtain down on a four-year stint in charge of England, in which time he won 33 of his 56 games in charge, although failed in both tournaments.

And several Palace fans around the country have taken to Twitter to express their views on de Boer’s sacking, as well as the imminent appointment of Hodgson, and it’s fair to say that many are angry at the club’s decision to part with the Dutchman, and indeed the likely arrival of the former England boss…
