It’s been a tough old season for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola and their fans here in the Tavern are a little concerned about how the season might pan out come the end of the campaign!
The Citizens haven’t had it all their way this season in the slightest and thanks to Chelsea’s dominance at the top of the table, it’s going to take an awful lot for anyone to catch Antonio Conte’s men come the end of the campaign.
And with City drinkers in the pub concerned that they might not even get Champions League football, just who in this squad needs to do more between now and the end of the season?
There’s some serious talent in the City ranks at the moment but certain individuals need to start proving to manager Pep Guardiola that they are worthy of wearing the jersey.
So with that in mind, here’s 3 Manchester City players who seriously need to prove their worth between now and the end of the season…
Fabien Delph
Fabien Delph has seriously struggled to make an impact on this Manchester City side since his move away from Aston Villa and he’s certainly an individual who needs to prove his worth if he wants to stay at the club this summer.
City fans here in the pub aren’t convinced the former Villa man is the sort of player to lead them to Champions League glory and you have to agree – he’s been sub-standard when we’ve seen him on the pitch for the Blues.
Whether his time has run out is yet to be seen but he’s certainly an individual that needs to be doing everything from here til the end of the season.
Claudio Bravo
The hysteria surrounding Claudio Bravo is still yet to die down and it’s clear that the Chilean has plenty of proving to do if he’s to remain City’s number one long-term.
The former Barcelona man has come under fire in most matches he’s played this season and he’s recently been ousted by Willy Caballero between the sticks.
He certainly needs to do everything he can to show not only Pep Guardiola, but also City fans that he is the player to lead them to glory from the back of the team.
Leroy Sane
With Gabriel Jesus out for a number of weeks with a metatarsal injury, the responsibility on the shoulders of Leroy Sane has increased tenfold.
The youngster has had a bright start to his City career but with the influential Jesus now watching on from the sidelines, he has a real platform to show the world that he is the main man in this City attack.
There are plenty of punters here in the pub excited about his future but now he needs to keep creating chances and scoring goals if he’s to write himself into the City history books.
