Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Josh Windass is reportedly ‘not for sale’ this summer, as the Owls try and keep hold of one of their key players.
The Lowdown: Windass future was up in the air
Wednesday are back in League One after a hugely disappointing Championship season, with Darren Moore preparing for life in the third tier.
A host of established names have now left Hillsborough after their contracts expired, but one player who is still there currently is Windass.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Millwall, having finished the 2020/21 campaign as Wednesday’s top scorer in the league, netting nine times.

The Latest: Owls’ stance remains strong
According to Yorkshire Live, the Owls are ‘adamant’ that Windass is ‘not for sale’, however, with the midfielder part of their pre-season trip to Wales.
That suggests it could take a hefty bid to prise him away from the club, although the report plays down other claims that the club values him at £5million – Transfermarkt have that number closer to £2m.
The Verdict: Owls must stand firm
Windass is one of Wednesday’s most important players and he has the quality to be a big performer in League One, given his performances in a struggling Championship side last season, not to mention scoring 21 goals in 104 appearances in the competition overall.
It may still be hard to keep hold of him if a sizeable offer from a club arrives, though, especially as he may feel he is in the peak years of his career and doesn’t want to spend them in League One.
If Windass stays put, however, it should aid Moore’s side’s promotion push hugely in 2021/22, saving the boss the difficult task of finding a replacement for yet another departing player.
