Sheffield Wednesday may have been thumped by Derby County on Saturday afternoon, however some fans still managed to find a positive out of the result – the performance of Josh Windass.
The attacker managed to bag a goal in the second half to give The Owls a glimmer of hope in securing something from the game, but in truth, the match was well beyond them before that moment. Goals from Tom Lawrence and Jason Knight in the first 30 minutes effectively ended the game with an hour to go (BBC).
However, when taking to Twitter, it appeared some of the club’s faithful still had some positive remarks to make in what would have been a difficult situation and perhaps his statistics help to justify why some of their fans felt he deserved some recognition.
According to WhoScored, Windass’ second-half cameo produced one shot (which ultimately found the back of the net), two key passes, one completed dribble and earned himself the club’s highest match rating with 7.50.
With those figures in mind, some of the club’s supporters had stated that he needed to be a part of Garry Monk’s side from the beginning in the future and that he was one of the only individuals that was on the Hillsborough pitch on Saturday afternoon to be able to look back on the game in a positive manner.
