Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react as Joe Crann discusses James Beattie

A lot of Sheffield Wednesday fans are reacting to a tweet by journalist for The Star Joe Crann, as he discusses some coaches that Garry Monk has worked with in the past who could link up with the Owls manager in the near future.

Both James Beattie and Darryl Flahavan have left their coaching roles at fellow Championship side Birmingham after a two year stay at the Midlands club. They had worked with Monk in previous jobs, and Crann tweeted, ‘Don’t be at all surprised to see both James Beattie and Darryl Flahavan join Garry Monk at #SWFC… If the club backs him to bring in his own people, that’d be a real step in the right direction in my opinion.’

Beattie worked as a first team coach at Birmingham with Monk, whilst Flahavan was the goalkeeping coach at the club. Clearly Monk is very keen on Beattie as he tried to bring the former forward to Hillsborough to work alongside him back in 2019, per the Examiner Live.

It would be a good step if Monk can have the coaches he wants at the club, and if the two were to join it would be a statement of intent from the club that they are willing to back the manager.

Could do with Both as much as like the coaches we have, Beattie has a record recently of making under par strikers perform to high standards and gets them@scoring and also flahavan may help out the young keeper to stop they making mistakes

I’d love Beattie, don’t really know other 2 but seen few tweets from bham fans and they are gutted that other 2 have gone just not Beattie lol. Does this mean weaver will loose his job or would have both? 🤷‍♂️
