Transfer Deadline Day always produces some shocks, and for a lot of Newcastle fans, realising that Achraf Lazaar was still on their books was one of those. However, the Moroccan left-back has now secured a loan move to Hillsborough where he’ll be playing under Steven Bruce, and the Sheffield Wednesday fans are delighted.
Thank you so much @swfc for this great opportunity. I really can’t wait to get started pic.twitter.com/atqTdwE4kH

More often than not you see exiled Premier League stars who seal transfers to lower league clubs and look pretty fed up about it. That, though, has not been the case with Lazaar. The versatile left-sided man who has pace to burn seems buzzing to have been given a chance to showcase what he can do in the Championship with Wednesday, and the fans cannot wait to see him in action.
At the age of 27, Lazaar should be in his peak years as a footballer. It’s hard to tell how well he will do in the second tier of English football and how long he will take to get up to speed seeing as he’s been used sparingly to say the least at Newcastle United. The Moroccan will be targetting a place in his national team squad at this summer’s AFCON, and now he has the chance to play first-team football and get away from the Premier League 2 he may just accomplish that.

@BNJMN37 Never seen so much passion in a player photo, let's hope it shows on the pitch good luck

Welcome son. I remember you at Palermo. A tough player, with a great first touch and lightning speed. You’ll fit right in at Wednesday. UTO #swfc

The Owls are delighted to have signed Lazaar on-loan and will hope the Moroccan can help fire them up the table in the second half of the season.
