The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are typically more interested in their side’s transfer business that aids their future plans, rather than the present.
This means that, for the most part, deals for young players are more popular. For example, Dele Alli’s arrival was met with joy, whilst moves for the likes of Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier were also popular.
However, we recently made a case that Tottenham should be interested in Croatian Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perisic, with the prospect of Mousa Dembele going the other way a decent idea in the opinion of our landlord. The attacking midfielder has impressed for current side Inter over the years, offering brilliant wide play with fantastic crossing and dribbling.
Whilst he’s 29-years-old, though, it appears as though he is popular among fans.
We asked Tottenham fans whether a move for Perisic would be a good one, and a whopping 82% of supporters stated that it would.
Given his age, it would require a marked change in transfer strategy if Tottenham were to move for him, but it’s tough to argue that a deal for him would not make sense. He’s rated at £36 million by Transfer Markt, and so he’d be expensive, but unfortunately, the best players always are.
Nobody in the Spurs first team offers ass much width as the attacker, and his arrival would add another facet to the team going forward. He scored 11 goals and picked up 11 assists last term, and so the impact he can have within this squad is huge.
Whether Spurs move for him or not remains to be seen, but a move would clearly be popular amongst fans.
