The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been impressed by the recent form of Mesut Ozil. The German struggled earlier in the season, and he looked poor at points last season too – but he has really turned it around over the last few months.
Providing class, creativity and impressive offensive quality, the German has really returned to his best. And that makes his future all the more concerning.
The German’s current contract expires at the end of the season, much like Alexis Sanchez, and Arsenal are yet to confirm that a new deal is on the cards. In truth, up until now, the Gunners have been very quiet on the matter, leading our resident Gunners to fear the worst about his future.

On first glance, this is great for the club – they’re holding on to their star player for the time being, at least. However, the Arsenal fans over on Twitter aren’t very confident. Indeed, they’re drawing to similar situations – like that of Robin van Persie – to suggest that Wenger’s words mean very little.
In fact, they’re fearful that an imminent departure could be on the cards.

That's pretty much confirmation he's leaving then, did the same with an untold number of players.

Everytime Arsene Wenger says something like this, the player has a 154% higher chance of moving clubs in January

He gone then

A couple of other fans, though seemingly slightly more optimistic about his immediate future, are taking this as confirmation that he’ll be departing at the end of the season – with one fan recognising that Wenger is being particularly specific about staying at the club through January, without mentioning the summer…

This January…….

Clearly, then, most fans are in agreement: Ozil won’t be an Arsenal player in 12 months time. Whether that’s the case remains to be seen, but Arsenal fans appear convinced.
