Southampton: Cedric Soares torn apart online despite Norwich City win

Southampton made it two wins from two at home last night after beating relegation rivals Norwich City just days after they did the same to Watford, putting some daylight between themselves and those in the bottom three.

With a trip to Newcastle United up next, this looks like a good time for the Saints to put a good run together and goals from both Danny Ings and Ryan Bertrand helped them put the Canaries to the sword.

Still, while it’s been a positive week for those on the south coast, one man was far from popular online.

Indeed, Portuguese right-back Cedric Soares – who recently told the Telegraph he planned on leaving at the end of the season – invoked the ire of a number of supporters on Twitter. Despite the fact that he made the most interceptions (per WhoScored) of any Saints player as they held on amid some late pressure, it seems the 28-year-old did little to impress these supporters.

With that in mind, here’s a look at what these fans made of his performance last night.

The sooner Cedric leaves, the better! #saintsfc

Cedric needs to be dropped. Doesn’t give anything to the cause. Doesn’t track his man. Can’t stand him. Valery in. #saintsfc
