Southampton are set to be without striker Michael Obafemi for the rest of the season with Ralph Hasenhuttl confirming yesterday the extent of the 18-year-old’s hamstring injury (via Southampton’s official Twitter).
Elsewhere, Danny Ings also remains unavailable, leaving his manager in quite the predicament.
The Saints, of course, failed in their pursuit of Birmingham City striker Che Adams in the last transfer window (Sky Sports), meaning Hasenhuttl is now left with just Charlie Austin and Shane Long when it comes to his options up front.
And with the duo hardly reliable for different reasons, the club will now surely be ruing their decision not to fork out the money on Adams or an alternative No.9.
Things are extremely tight at the bottom of the Premier League, and the lack of fit and firing forwards could end up making all the difference in the worst way possible for the Saints.

What a joke. All our strikers are injury prone including Austin and Gallagher. We let gabbiadini leave and wait until last couple of days of window to try and sign a striker with a miserly offer. The only consolation Che Adams doesn’t score many ……..Oh wait my bad
