Jadon Sancho has set an example for all young English players struggling to break into their respective Premier League sides. And, without wanting to exaggerate, has probably changed the fortunes of England’s future international success.
There’s no knowing how many talents have failed to fulfil their potential because they couldn’t compete with big name transfers; players who have been loaned out time and time again, with no real aim or purpose; and those whose careers have sadly stagnated in the lower leagues due to a lack of belief.
Of course, it’s every players’ dream to compete in one of, if not, the most famous leagues in the world, but it’s got to the point where players are blindly following their goal at major risk of damaging their futures.
Moving abroad isn’t a step back in many cases; it’s a golden opportunity to accelerate one’s career into places it wouldn’t have been before.
So, who next?
We take a look at a Tottenham prospect we believe should be the next English talent to move abroad…
Kaziah Sterling has featured and starred for Tottenham at almost every level now but is still struggling to find his way into the first-team.
Now on-loan to League One side Sunderland, Sterling finds himself in a precarious position whereby his future at his parent club relies very much on the performances he puts in for the remainder of the season.
Of course, there every reason to believe he can make a success of his time in the north east. Sterling was Tottenham’s under-23 top scorer last season, scoring 8 in 20, and netting once in the Checkatrade trophy as well (Source: Chronicle Live).
However, as great of an opportunity as this is, it would be far more suitable for Sterling to move his talents abroad to a top-tier team who are willing to give young players an opportunity at the highest level. And, as a long as Kane is on the scene, there’s very few players in world football that could knock him off that perch.
