Steve Bruce reacts to latest Aston Villa blow ahead of Rotherham clash

Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are far from happy with the FA at the moment after their announcement over Leandro Bacuna.

After confronting the linesman in the game against Derby County recently, the Villa man was rightly sent off and handed the usual three-game ban.

The FA, though, have decided to extend his suspension today as they announced that it will be doubled to six matches.

Certainly, that news has shocked a fair few Villa fans here by the bar who have cited other incidents this season that were arguably worse than Bacuna’s but got less of a suspension.

Indeed, there is a point behind that argument and whilst no-one is arguing with the three-game ban for the player, even Steve Bruce feels six matches out of action is too much.

In his pre-match press conference today he revealed, in light of the news, that the club are considering an appeal to the decision – as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account:

This one could rumble on for a while yet, then, with many here by the bar – not just our Villa punters – thinking that the club have a decent case to put forward.
