Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern, without trying to get too over-confident, think that a win tonight at Reading could see them go on to become Championship title winners.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a reason against that, too, as when the going has got tough in recent games they have come out fighting to put in some fine displays.
They’ll be eager to return to the Premier League no matter what now, then, and it appears one man who wants to be with the club next season is doing all he can to get himself noticed.
Indeed, after coming out and speaking to NU Sport – via The Chronicle’s Chris Waugh on Twitter – and saying he wants to return to Newcastle in the summer, Siem De Jong has left no-one uncertain over his intentions:

Certainly, De Jong is doing all he can to make sure he’s got a chance of playing for the Magpies next season as he scored twice at the weekend for PSV – whom he is on-loan with at the moment.
Could he return for the club, then? Our landlord still isn’t sure in all honesty.
