While Everton manager Marco Silva will be keen to see some more players arrive at Goodison Park before the transfer window shuts, director of football Marcel Brands will be looking to balance the books with sales.
Brands has spoken on more than one occasion of Everton’s need to offload individuals (via the Guardian) and, given how poor some of the Toffees’ recent signings have been, there are plenty of candidates.
So here are four names, on top of those who have already been given the chop, who could be booted out of the blue side of Merseyside this summer…
With signings such as Cuco Martina, it was no surprise Ronald Koeman’s second season as Everton manager ended in misery.
£2.2m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Martina is a natural right-back but was used on the opposite side by Koeman before he was dismissed from the Goodison Park dugout.
Martina has never looked comfortable defending in 1v1 situations and, with the arrival of Lucas Digne, there is no longer a need for the 28-year-old to play left-back.
Unless Martina becomes a better defender overnight and Silva has plans to play him at right-back, then the former Southampton man should be moved on.
Things have gone pretty downhill for Morgan Schneiderlin since leaving Southampton back in the summer of 2015.
The Frenchman really struggled at Manchester United after his big-money move from St. Mary’s and things have no gotten any better for him at Everton.
Schneiderlin’s approach when in possession of the ball and his lack of discipline both on and off the field has understandably frustrated the Everton faithful.
It would be in everyone’s best interest if £18m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Schneiderlin and the club decided to part ways this summer.
Yannick Bolasie was one of Everton’s first major signings under majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri after he joined from Crystal Palace for £25m in August 2016 (via BBC Sport).
The 29-year-old, however, has failed to justify that price tag.
£16.2m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Bolasie, of course, has missed a lot of football since moving to Goodison Park due to picking up a serious cruciate ligament injury which sidelined him for a year.
But in the games he has played in, Bolasie has been unconvincing and wasteful with the ball.
Crystal Palace are said to be interested in re-signing the DR Congo international (via Evening Standard) in a move that would be good for all parties involved.
When Everton signed Sandro Ramirez, some thought the Merseyside club were getting one of the bargains of the summer after the Spaniard’s impressive 2016/17 La Liga campaign with Malaga in which he scored 14 goals.
That, however, was far from the case.
Rather, Sandro was one of the biggest disappointments of that summer after only managing to feature in eight of Everton’s Premier League games.
The £9m-rated (via Transfermarkt) 23-year-old was unable to score a single goal in any of those appearances and was later loaned to Sevilla where he also failed to find the back of the net.
Things could be different under Silva, but Ramirez’s future at Goodison Park looks bleak.
