The Gers have been sensational under the guidance of Graeme Murty so far this year, as the Bluenoses look on course for securing European football for next season. And, the good news doesn’t stop there as Rangers have a chance to progress to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup today, with our local residents praying that their side can bring some silverware back to Glasgow.
Indeed, a home tie at Ibrox stands between Rangers and a spot in the next round of the Scottish Cup, as they welcome Championship side Falkirk to Glasgow in today’s encounter. Although, the visitors have already made it to the quarter-finals of the Scottish Challenge Cup this season, so it could prove to be a closely contested encounter.
And, with a win today taking them one step closer to securing silverware, Murty will need to make some key decisions when it comes to choosing his starting line-up. Indeed, here’s a look at TWO Rangers players that need to be dropped for today’s game…
Daniel Candeias
Daniel Candeias has been sensational for the Gers so far this season, after joining in the summer from Portuguese giants Benfica. And, having managed to score five goals and assist nine for his teammates thus far, our local residents cannot stop singing his praise.
However, in the Gers’ Scottish Premiership match against St. Johnstone in midweek, the winger had one of his quieter nights as he failed to make a big impact on proceedings.
Therefore, with the Scottish Cup quarter-final tie against Falkirk coming up later on today, Murty should look to drop the 30-year-old to provide an opportunity for Jason Holt to earn some more minutes.
Alfredo Morelos
The Colombian striker has been a revelation during his time at Ibrox, as he has all the makings of a future world star. And, Rangers would find themselves considerably worse off without the 21-year-old’s contributions, having scored 17 goals and assisted five so far this season.
Indeed, his goalscoring form continued in their last outing at McDiarmid Park after netting the fourth goal in a 4-1 win against St. Johnstone, which saw him reclaim his position at the top of the Scottish Premiership goalscoring charts.
Although, with the Old Firm clash up next in the league for the Bluenoses, Murty should drop the South American from his starting line-up to allow for some much-needed rest. And, having seen Jason Cummings score in the last round of the cup competition, an automatic place in the starting XI should be gifted to the Scotsman.
