The Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are in full meltdown mode following the recent spate of bad results.

After 22 years in charge of Arsenal, time may be coming to an end for long-serving boss Arsene Wenger. After many highs with the club, the recent couple of seasons have hot some terrible lows but nothing is compared to what is presently going on at the club.

The demise has been gradual and many managers have been starting to get linked to the job for next season, as the feeling in the pub is that of Wenger surely can’t see his final year out. One of the surprise names on the list is former Gunner Mikel Arteta, weirdly enough. The current Man City coach who is working under Pep Guardiola is said to be an unpopular figure at the Emirates after spending five years at the club during his playing days.

His reportedly full of himself and arrogant attitude may rub a couple of the players up the wrong way, and with that in mind, our landlord takes a look at which TWO may have no future should he join…

Petr Cech

The ageing goalkeeper is leaving his best years behind him at the moment, as he is struggling for form and confidence in an Arsenal side that mirror the feeling. Cech surely must make way for a younger model next season and if the Spaniard was to take over at the Emirates, a goalkeeper would be high on his shopping list.

Indeed, Cech has given some outstanding years to the club but it’s time to move forward.

Granit Xhaka

Mikel Arteta would do well to look at overhauling the midfield, and surely one to go early would be Granit Xhaka. He is seen as a liability by many in the bar, and the general consensus is that he loses more points than he gains over the course of a season for the Gunners.

Xhaka hasn’t lived up to expectations at the Emirates and wouldn’t be missed should the new man show him the exit door in the summer.
