Surely these 2 Arsenal players need to start against Red Star Belgrade – agreed?

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a response from their side after their loss against Watford over the weekend. The Gunners’ form had begun to turn around before their visit to Vicarage Road, but their poor performance over the weekend proved that there are still a lot of cracks to paper up.

Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your perspective, Arsenal don’t have much time to consolidate their thoughts on the game, with their next fixture already right around the corner.

The Gunners are off to Belgrade ahead of their clash with Red Star Belgrade on Thursday, with the next round of the Europa League set to take centre stage. It’s a game that Arsenal should be looking to win, as their Premier League prospects are looking pretty bleak at present. Another loss could see Arsenal’s form spiral out of control, and so Arsene Wenger would be wise to pick a strong side made up of top players.

With that said, surely these 2 Arsenal players need to start against Red Star Belgrade – agreed?

Jack Wilshere

Jack Wilshere has struggled for regular game time so far this season, but that’s to be expected. He’s still recovering from an injury and looking to gain his fitness, and that’s going to take a lot of time.

That said, he does need to feature, and this clash is the perfect time for him to do that.

Arsenal will likely control the ball and control the game, and that gives Wilshere an opportunity to make the best out of his qualities. He’s fantastic on the ball, and another 90 minutes could bring him back to 100%.

Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi is a very underrated member of the Arsenal first team, and he’s been increasingly solid so far this year.

Offering electric pace, fantastic technical ability and a goal threat, he has been far more useful than Mesut Ozil has this term.

He’s not the complete article, but he offers Arsenal a lot, and this is a great opportunity for him to get some minutes. If his form continues to improve, he’ll be a weekly starter in no time.
