Leeds United fans here in the Tavern are hoping for a change in fortune, with only one win since Paul Heckingbottom took over at Elland Road.
The Whites are looking to get back to winning ways after failing to secure all three points against Reading in their last outing, as the play-offs are slowly slipping away from Leeds United. Indeed, it appears that Paul Heckingbottom will have to build for another season in the Championship, with plenty of movement expected in the summer transfer window.
Of course, Leeds United have suffered from a mixture of injury troubles and inconsistent performances this season, with plenty of departures expected in the summer after producing an underwhelming campaign. Although, many of our local residents here in the Tavern are hopeful that their side can secure promotion next season, with an overhaul in the summer months making this possible.
Therefore, with the Whites failing to produce the results that fans have been calling for in recent times, there’s a few players that may be living out their last couple of months at the club. So, here’s a look at TWO players that are facing an exit from Elland Road in the summer…
Andy Lonergan
The former Wolves ‘keeper has been Leeds’ second-choice for large parts of the season, as the Englishman has had to rely on injuries within the goalkeeping department to be rewarded with a regular starting place.
However, he’s looked less than convincing in-between the sticks so far this season, and now appears to be even further down the pecking order after seeing Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s rise to stardom in recent weeks.
Therefore, with Andy Lonergan now arguably the Whites’ third-choice goalkeeper, an exit in the summer looks likely as not even a place on the substitute bench will be guaranteed.
Pawel Cibicki
Pawel Cibicki signed from Malmo FF last summer as one of the most highly-rated attackers out of Sweden, but has struggled to produce any kind of magic during his time at Elland Road thus far.
Indeed, the 24-year-old has failed to make an appearance for the Whites since late January, as he continues to stagnate behind the scenes after a less than convincing first season in West Yorkshire.
Therefore, this looks like it could be the attackers last season with Leeds United, as many of our local residents believe that he won’t play another game for the club.
