Manchester City enjoyed plenty of success last season as they secured the Premier League title with ease. But, with the chance to secure the Community Shield before the Premier League campaign gets underway, Pep Guardiola will rally his troops to take home the prize.
The Citizens have splashed the cash this summer by bringing in former Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez, so they’re in an even better position than they were last season. Therefore, Guardiola’s side shouldn’t find it difficult to enjoy an even better campaign this time around.
Next up for Manchester City is a game with fellow Premier League side Chelsea in the Community Shield. The Blues are under new management and have a star-studded squad, so things won’t be easy at Wembley Stadium.
So, having taken Guardiola’s selections from City’s pre-season games into consideration, we’ve come up with a team that we think the Spaniard could line up with against Chelsea.

MANCHESTER CITY’S POTENTIAL TEAM VS CHELSEA
We’ve gone with a 4-2-3-1 formation, as that is the formation that helped Manchester City secure the title last season and all of the players are familiar with it. The Citizens enjoyed the majority of their success in attack last season, with the attacking three behind the striker often causing the opposition all kinds of problems.

Manchester City should turn to Ederson in-between the sticks after witnessing his brilliance last season.
In defence, the Citizens should deploy Danilo on the right-hand side as a very versatile player and Oleksandr Zinchenko on the other side. Meanwhile, Nicolas Otamendi and Aymeric Laporte should be given the nod ahead of City’s World Cup contingent that made it to the latter stages of the competition.
Fernandinho will do his best to snuff out any attacks and protect the defensive line, while Ilkay Gundogan offers a bit more creativity alongside him.
David Silva, Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling will form the attacking line for Manchester City. The youngster will have a point to prove after Riyad Mahrez joined from Leicester City, while Sane will be keen to hit the ground running after missing out on a place in Germany’s World Cup squad.
Lastly, Gabriel Jesus should lead the line for Manchester City, with his pace and strength causing all sorts of trouble.
