Newcastle fans here in the Tavern are starting to realize the harsh reality of their side becoming a part of the relegation scrap.
The Toon Army fanatics here in the pub have been extremely displeased with their sides recent run of form, having lost 4 matches on the bounce in the Premier League, the form of a possible relegated side.
Rafa Benitez has become one of the managerial geniuses of modern day management, having taken sides such as Liverpool to Champions League glory, to now bringing Newcastle up from the depths of despair in the Championship to a Premier League outfit.
Indeed, you could say a step backwards in his career?
After the weekend’s crushing 3-0 loss at the hands of Watford, Rafa Benitez was heavily critical of the funds that were being provided during his reign here on Tyneside, due to the lack of opportunity to bring in similar players to competitors, all down to a stump in the money being made available.
Here’s a look at the gaffers statement made after the weekend’s game, displayed by a Newcastle United writer on Twitter.
Rafa Benitez: 'We have to compete against Huddersfield & Brighton but we couldn't sign the players they signed or pay the wages they paid.' #nufc

Fanatics here in the Tavern absolutely despise owner Mike Ashley, as they heavily criticize him for the mess he’s put the club in.
Mike Ashley has enjoyed a roller-coaster ride as owner of Newcastle United Football Club, since taking over back in 2007 the businessman has made a heap of wrongdoings for the Tyneside outfit, from changing the historic St James Park to the Sports Direct Arena, to failing to provide any required funds in desperate times of need.
However, things could be about to get a whole lot better for Benitez and his side, with the reports that Businesswoman Amanda Stavely is readying a £300 million bid for the club in her quest to become the new owner, after the hugely criticized former ruler Mike Ashley looked to place the club on the market.
Perhaps, the Ashley plague is about to become extinct?
Still, with many facts and figures yet to be confirmed in the detailed process of a takeover, here’s a look at what some fans had to say about Benitez’s statement on the current position of the club…
What a sad and scary statement

What a depressing statement Miles – takeover badly needed to rid us of this man.

And that, everybody, is why Mike Ashley should be hounded out. The fact that we put up with this utter nonsense makes me sick. If the takeover does not go through (God forbid), then something still needs to be done. The man is poison

We cannot have any complaints with the players or first team management, Ashley to blame for this no one else.

Prime example of what ownership is like under Mike Ashley.
How much he has held us back…— Luke (@LukeMidd1) November 27, 2017

What is Ashley's excuse for not competing with fellow newly promoted sides? Especially when we are a bigger club. Disgraceful.
