Chelsea fans are already piling into the Football Transfer Tavern ahead of their return to the Champions League this evening…

The Blues missed out on the competition last season, and that has left the fans in the pub desperate for their side to achieve success in this campaign’s edition.

Fortunately, their first game is likely to be the easiest that they will face all season long, a home game against Qarabag.

Not a well-known team in England, the Blues will be expected to win the game comfortably, and as Antonio Conte has already revealed, a number of changes will be made to freshen things up in the Chelsea first team.

This is likely to mean that a few rotational players may get a chance to shine, but who could we see? Though Chelsea’s squad is limited, there are a number of players that are yet to get much of a chance, and they are who Conte is likely to turn to.

With that said, here are 3 Chelsea fringe players that Conte could turn to tonight vs Qarabag…

Kenedy

Kenedy is likely to serve as a decent depth option in the Chelsea first team this season, having been a semi-regular under the likes of Jose Mourinho.

He would be a good fit on the left-hand side of the Chelsea defence in place of Marcos Alonso. The Spaniard hasn’t had much of a rest since moving to Chelsea, and he could certainly do with one.

The Blues need to keep Alonso fit, and whilst Kenedy has gone down the pecking order recently, he still has the talent to succeed.

Michy Batshuayi

Michy Batshuayi started the season as first-choice but has fallen behind Alvaro Morata in recent weeks.

That said, he’s a potent forward, and he enjoyed a lethal pre-season campaign.

He has often been particularly effective against lesser sides, and so it would make sense to back him to bag a goal or two if he is selected. With Arsenal coming up, Morata could do with a day off.

Willy Caballero

Willy Caballero’s signing went under the radar over the summer, but he was a vital acquisition.

He’s currently second-choice behind Thibaut Courtois, and this could be the perfect time to give him his Chelsea debut.

The Argentine is a solid player, he often impressed for Man City, and so it would make sense to give Thibaut Courtois a rest. Conte will have no fear that Caballero will do a good job.
