The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have enjoyed a good start to the season…
After a mixed spell, which culminated in defeats against both Liverpool and Arsenal, the Blues appear to have come out the other side brilliantly; and our landlord is touting them for a title challenge this season.
A switch away from a 4 man defence appears to have done the trick for Antonio Conte, with Chelsea looking much more stable at the back whilst also offering a threat going forward.
However, whilst Conte has done well to utilise the players that he currently has available to him – there are some stars that simply need more of a chance under the Italian.
Conte has his favourites, as any other manager does, and as a result – a number of quality players that deserve a chance have been lost in the shuffle.
With that said, these 2 Chelsea players need a lot more love under Conte…
Nathaniel Chalobah
Nathaniel Chalobah got the headlines over the weekend for a superb assist against Leicester City, but that is just the tip of the iceberg for what the young Englishman is capable of.
During pre-season, Chalobah was one of Chelsea’s most important players – and he formed an excellent partnership alongside N’Golo Kante; but thus far he has not been given much of a chance.
With Nemanja Matic faltering alongside the Frenchman, Chalobah could be the perfect man to take the reigns going forward.
He has been in and around the Chelsea first time for years; Conte must give him an opportunity.
Cesc Fabregas
Cesc Fabregas’ fall from grace at Chelsea this season has been well documented, with Antonio Conte choosing to go with Nemanja Matic in his place.
But in truth, whenever Fabregas has played so far this season – he has played fantastically well. Be it setting up goals for Diego Costa or adding technical quality to the midfield – Fabregas can do it all.
Granted, his mobility is an issue; but with a 5 man defence playing behind him that shouldn’t be as much of an issue. With Chelsea’s improved defence and N’Golo Kante – Fabregas can focus on going forward at all times.
Fabregas needs a lot more love, or Chelsea could find him requesting a departure.
