Everton are always looking for the next batch of promising young players to come through.
Having local stars and young talents being produced by the club is something that is incredibly important to our Toffees fans here in the Transfer Tavern as well as those further afield and they’ve certainly seen some over the years.
In recent times, it has been the likes of Ross Barkley and Wayne Rooney who have shone through, but there has also been the breakthrough of Mason Holgate earlier this season.
Competition to be a Premier League footballer is fierce, however, and inevitably some players are not going to make it at the highest level.
Football is one of the harshest industries around in this aspect, then, and our landlord reckons these two Toffees could be about to find that out the hard way and get let go from Ronald Koeman’s side…
Sam Byrne

Byrne has already been at Manchester United and couldn’t make the grade there, so the pressure is really on for him to succeed at Everton now.
It’s unlikely he’ll do it, though, as he has to somehow compete with Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian is not even near his peak years yet and so Byrne, like many other young Toffees forwards currently dreaming of leading the line may have to reassess their options.
Brendan Galloway

The Everton defender has been on loan at West Brom this season but it simply hasn’t worked out so far.
He has seen Allan Nyom play in front of him for the Baggies and so that suggests he may have to step down a level if he wants to start playing more regularly.
He did seem set for a Premier League career but things, as they so often do, have changed and now he could be on his way out.
