Liverpool have fallen away from the title race under Jurgen Klopp this season, and were humbled by champions Leicester City last time out.

The Reds fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been frustrated figures over the past few months, with a lot of moaning and disgruntled comments being heard over by the jukebox.

However, one thing the Liverpool fans always look forward too is unearthing the next local hero. Many young Liverpool players aspire to be the next Steven Gerrard or Jamie Carragher, and there may well be some players in the current squad who can do just that.

We agree, so with this in mind, we have taken a look at TWO Liverpool wonderkids who could potentially become captain at Anfield in the future…

Trent Alexander-Arnold

At just 18-years-old, there is little doubt that Alexander-Arnold is a tremendous talent.

He has impressed every time he has played this season, and looks to be destined for a lengthy career at the top end of the game.

Despite being a right back, there is every chance Alexander-Arnold could develop into the future Reds skipper.

Jake Brimmer

18-year-old Brimmer is still on impressing in the under-23 squad at Anfield, but looks to have all the tools to become a top player for the club.

A central midfielder with the knack of getting goals, the Australian will be looking to kick on next season and impress Jurgen Klopp in the hope of getting some first team action.

If he can continue to develop and impress, there is every chance the armband could be his one day.
