Southampton are having another very steady season, and manager Claude Puel has done an excellent job to continue the good work that Ronald Koeman started before him.

The Saints won impressively in midweek, running out 3-1 winners against Crystal Palace at St Mary’s.

Southampton have built steadily over a number of years now, and a big part of this has been the high quality they have produced from their youth system.

Over the years, the likes of Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all broke through, and the Saints fans here in the Tavern are proud as punch when they are talking about these sorts of players.

The tradition of young players has continued this season, and it looks set to continue into the foreseeable future if the Saints fans are to be believed.

Josh Sims

A player who is already around the first team after breaking in earlier in the season, Sims has so much to offer for the Saints.

Even though he is in and around the squad, you could argue that he maybe deserves to play more, and for that reason he makes it to this article as someone who needs to be fast tracked towards the first team even more.

Richard Bakary

The 19-year-old defender is definitely looking like someone with a bright future, and it won’t be long surely before he is involved under Claude Puel.

Bakary already plays for his nation with Benin, and it should not be long before the big defender is moved closer to the first team and making an impact in the Premier League.
