Arsenal have endured a tough transfer window so far this summer, with some Gooners in the Transfer Tavern growing increasingly frustrated at the lack of activity they’ve seen from Arsene Wenger and his team.

Whilst his rivals have spent time and time again, Wenger has been almost reserved, sitting on some of the players he already has at his disposal.

Whilst he has signed Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding and Takuma Asano, this has done little to appease the Gunners supporters who were really expecting more in the way of headlines at this stage in the summer.

So with the transfer activity looking unlikely to be stepped up in the coming days, should Arsene Wenger be looking to his U21 reserve team to see if any individuals are ready to make the step-up?

Here’s THREE individuals that could be first-teamers before you know it….

Dan Crowley

Described by Barnsley manager Lee Johnson as “One of the best 18-year-olds I’ve seen in the game”, the future certainly looks bright for Arsenal U21 star Dan Crowley.

The midfielder impressed as he made 13 appearances for the Tykes last season and he will spend the year at Oxford United this time round.

But should injuries creep back into the Gunners squad, Wenger really should considering promoting Crowley to the first team. He’s a talented young man with quick feet, good vision and a confident swagger that suggests he’s only going to get better.

Krystian Bielik

The first-team could be extremely close for one man in particular: 18-year-old centre-back Krystian Bielik, who has starred on Arsenal’s pre-season tour of America.

With Per Mertesacker sidelined for at least five months and Gabriel still struggling to step-up in England, there could be no time like the present for the Pole.

Wenger really believes in this young mans’ ability and we could be seeing him in the first-team sooner rather than later.

Reiss Nelson

A 17-year-old winger, Nelson has impressed having made the step up to the U21 side last season.

He’s played across the whole forward line and has showed the academy bosses just how versatile he can be going forward.

Four goals in six games for the England Under 17’s also showed his promise and to be making such an impact on both the domestic and international scale can only be a good thing at his age.

With hard-work and discipline, this young man could be promoted to the first-team before we know it.
