Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern are extremely excited about the season ahead and who can blame them, it was pretty rubbish for them last year!
But one man that has jumped ship at the first opportunity is Scott Sinclair, who got his fair-share of flak as Villa succumbed to a pretty embarrassing relegation last season.
And Sinclair, a former Manchester City and Swansea forward really struggled to help his side as they were beaten week-after-week but he has now linked up with Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.
So with Sinclair starting a new chapter under Brendan Rodgers north of the border who could come into Villa Park to fill in the void left behind by the 27-year-old?
Villa haven’t hesitated in spending this summer and will undoubtedly splash the cash if needs be to replace their outward man.
So with that in mind, here’s THREE players that could replace Scott Sinclair at Aston Villa this summer.
Marco Matias
The Sheffield Wednesday winger took a while to settle in England but when he eventually found his feet, he’s impressed.
The 27-year-old was awarded the Football League’s goal of the season award for a strike against Leeds United last season and much is thought of him in Sheffield.
He could be a solid option to replace Sinclair at Villa.
Kamil Grosicki
Whilst looking abroad didn’t serve Villa too well under previous management, Kamil Grosicki could be a really handy addition if they can bring him in from Rennes.
The 28-year-old Polish international featured prominently for his country at this years’ Euro 2016 tournament, assisting twice as his side got to the quarter-finals.
He’s quick, has excellent feet and scores his fair share of goals too.
Tom Ince
An English gem that has somewhat dropped of the radar of late, Tom Ince is still in the Championship as he aims to help Derby County to promotion this season.
But he’s one player Villa should definetely be targeting, not least because of the form he showed in his early days with Blackpool.
He made his name at Bloomfield Road but has shown glimpses of the skill, intelligence and composure he has in his locker at Derby County but not as much as he perhaps could have.
Could be a bit of a risk but at 24-years-old, Ince still has plenty of years ahead of him.
