Rumours are persisting that Mauro Icardi could be on his way from Inter Milan this Summer, and many think Arsenal could be his destination and this has led to a lot of discussion here in the Football Transfer Tavern!
Our local Gunners punters think it could be a good sign that Arsene Wenger is finally looking to bolster their striking options, instead of sticking by Olivier Giroud stubbornly for another year – but some are also worried he won’t look to add further signings if a deal for Icardi goes through.
New players are a must going into a new season in order to challenge on all fronts just as Chelsea found to their detriment last season and Gunners fans will be hoping Wenger looks for more acquisitions.

Julian Draxler
Draxler is a player who is just waiting for his huge potential to be unlocked.
The German broke on to the scene at Schalke and was touted as the future of German football – a rather hefty tag to carry round.
So far he hasn’t reached those huge heights, but has shown flashed of what he can do and could just need a change from the Bundesliga to truly improve as a player.
Jeison Murillo
Arsenal’s defence, although keeping a number of clean sheets last season, could be improved.
Laurent Koscielny is a solid centre half but who goes next to him is up for debate.
Per Mertesacker is getting past it, Gabriel Paulista doesn’t exude confidence and Callum Chambers may not get his chance.
The opportunity is there for a new player to mark his territory and that person could be Murillo.
Strong and quick, the Colombian is a real force and would suit Premier League football.
Moussa Sissoko
Sissoko looked like a man possessed in the European Championship final against Portugal.
Why that was is up for debate, was it that he was determined to lift the trophy? Of course.
Did he want to put himself in the shop window to leave Newcastle? Our landlord thinks so.
Nevertheless the midfielder showed exactly what he could do battering the opposition out of the way and this would transform Arsenal’s midfield.
Alexandre Lacazette
Lacazette is a top drawer forward and scores goals for fun.
Some may think if he was at the Euro’s France would have won the title but whilst that’s now in the past, the future could hold a move to Arsenal.
The Lyon man would have to overcome a step up to compete in the Premier League, but there’s no reason why he shouldn’t manage that and if he did the Gunners could have a potential world beater in their midst.
Arda Turan
Turan didn’t have the most successful of seasons last year at Barcelona, failing to hold down a regular starting spot in the La Liga champions line up.
Wind back to when he was at Atletico though and you find a player that clearly has talent he just needs a confidence boost and a move to Arsenal, where he would no doubt stand better chance of starting, could provide just that.
