These two players should follow Aaron Lennon to Newcastle United if he joins this month

Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern have been drinking in delight, as they hope that their recent run of results can help steer them clear of relegation trouble.

Rafa Benitez’s side are yet to find any real sense of winning form so far this season, as they’ve only managed to amass two wins in the top-flight since the start of November in what’s been a horror first season back in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, the Magpies will be hoping that their latest four-game unbeaten streak in all competitions is a sign of things to come, after two wins and two draws has given themselves something to build on.

Although, signings are something that Newcastle United can look to use as their biggest hope, with a number of players being linked with a move to Tyneside over the past couple of months.

But the latest links suggest that Everton winger Aaron Lennon could be on his way to St. James’ Park after the 30-year-old was identified as a possible loan target. Benitez is quite clearly seeking proven experience over youth, as they hope that the Englishman and his 342 Premier League appearances can help save the Magpies’ season.

Although, after Mike Ashley decided to walk away with talks that involved the possible takeover by Amanda Staveley, he’s said that Benitez can bring in up to three recruits this window.

So without further ado, here’s a look at TWO other players who should follow Lennon to Newcastle this window…

Islam Slimani

The Leicester City forward is yet to find his feet in the Premier League after signing from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon back in 2016.

Having only managed to score eight goals since his arrival at the Foxes, it’s fair to say that a move away for the Algerian could help kick-start his career back up again.

And, with Newcastle United struggling to find themselves a natural goalscorer in their current ranks, the addition of Islam Slimani could be the piece of the puzzle they’ve been missing thus far.

Indeed, the striker has emerged as a possible loan target for the Magpies, according to a report in the Shields Gazette.

The 28-year-old is known as a national hero by many fans in Slovakia, and has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers at club level too.

Currently playing for Czech side Sparta Praha, he’s displayed some quite magnificent performances so far this season after accumulating six clean-sheets in his last 11 domestic games.

In a position that Newcastle are looking to improve with the ineffective pairing of Karl Darlow and Rob Elliott failing to impress, the Slovakian is being eyed up as the ideal replacement for the Magpies.

And, Rafa Benitez is determined to ensure that the deal comes to fruition after being heavily linked with the goalkeeper.
