The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been protesting their innocence after their Tyne-Wear derby rivals, Sunderland have cancelled a number of tickets in the away end for their clash with Wolves at the Stadium of Light. The reason behind the club cancelling the tickets is that information had suggested the tickets had fallen into the hands of Newcastle supporters, according to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie.

Newcastle fans will be loving life at the moment after getting through what was a tough year last season. The 2016/17 season saw Newcastle battling it out in the Championship whilst their two closest rivals Sunderland and Middlesbrough enjoyed Premier League football. Now though, the shoe is on the other foot as Middlesbrough and Sunderland were relegated and Newcastle went up as Champions. Even better for the Magpies is that Sunderland are just weeks away from suffering a double relegation.
Sunderland could have their relegation confirmed on the last game of the season at home to Wolves, who have already confirmed that they’ll be playing champagne football in the Premier League this season. The news that Newcastle fans have acquired tickets for their rivals last game of the season is farfetched though, as to be eligible to buy tickets for fixture you need to be a Wolves season-ticket holder and have already attended at least twelve away games this season.
