The Manchester City fans were delighted to see their side take another step towards a historic quadruple yesterday following their victory over Cardiff City in the FA Cup 4th round.
Pep Guardiola’s imperious side were once again in dominant mood at the Cardiff City Stadium yesterday afternoon, as they strolled to a 2-0 win over Neil Warnock’s promotion-chasing side. The full-time result never looked in doubt after Kevin De Bruyne superbly placed his free-kick under the Cardiff City wall and into the bottom corner to give City the lead with just 8 minutes on the clock.
Bernardo Silva thought he had doubled City’s lead moments later when he crashed home a superb strike into the top-corner which tickled the underside of the crossbar on its way in, but the referee Lee Mason controversially ruled the goal out for offside as Sane was adjudged to be blocking the keepers line of sight.
The Citizens were by no means deflated by the decision and they got their just reward for their persistence in the 37th minute as Silva floated a brilliant cross into the path of Raheem Sterling, and the England international made no mistake in notching a rare headed goal to double City’s lead and ensure their safe passage into the 5th round of the competition.
It was a near-perfect day for Guardiola’s City slickers, however, the injury collected by Leroy Sane just before the interval dampened the mood slightly. An incisive run by Sane at the heart of Cardiff’s defence was brought to a halt by a nasty looking challenge from Joe Bennett as City looked to increase their advantage before the half-time whistle. The subsequent injury he sustained forced him off at half-time.
In the aftermath of proceedings Guardiola confirmed that the German international will be sidelined for 2-3 weeks with an ankle injury, and naturally the City supporters were devastated by the injury blow.
Some of the supporters believe that City will cope with Sane’s absence after Silva’s impressive performance yesterday, but one of the main points for discussion to emerge concerned City’s perceived lack of protection from referees this season.
Here’s what the City fans had to say in reaction to Sane’s latest injury blow…
could have been worse. Bernardo will get games now

Don't hold your breath Michelle. Usual silence and lack of accountability from the @FootballAssoc and officials. Beyond a joke now.
