Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a promotion challenge next season with this year now winding down for the club.
Indeed, the Villans are in the rather comfortable spot in the Championship at the moment with them not having anything else to play for this season now.
And, whilst they’d obviously like to be in the promotion and play-off race, they are at least looking more stable in mid-table ahead of 2017/18.
Attention for them, then, is largely on Birmingham’s plight with them potentially getting relegated.
Indeed, if Villa lose at Blackburn this weekend the Blues could be in massive trouble and with Mile Jedinak getting injured ahead of the game many are almost welcoming the chance to lose against Rovers.
